K.P and I dressed up for elegant night during our Western Carribean moon. I decided to wear a two toned black and white satin dress. I loved the way it looked on me.

The Knot best of weddings 2008/2009

Courtesy of Minette Rushing's Blog (first). Custom Cakes boutique pastry shop did a great job!!! You can see why they are the top pick for discerning brides throughout the South.
The inspiration:I did not opt for a traditional white cake.I searched the web. Amongst the beautiful cakes, these two stood out-very elegant and clean.

Trash the Dress..Not Really

source
It has been very busy and hectic this past month. We have moved into a new place, and are in the process of house hunting and a trillion other things. I was scheduled to take post bridal pictures as I was too nervous about my dress to take them before the wedding as they were to be outdoors in Savannah's parks and squares. The aforementioned is no more. My dress was left at my mother in laws house when we left for the honeymoon. In her helpful mindset, she took my dress to a local dry cleaner in Richmond Hill, a small town right outside of Savannah. A big don't-need I say more! The dress was double faced satin and now it has shrunk and resembles crushed velvet as my sister states. Melissa Sweet gowns are well made but if you saw my dress, you may be at a loss for words. The bustle was still in my dress, of course from the reception. Do you think they inspected the gown? Apparently not because the bustle points tugged at the dress in addition to visible detergent residue. I wish I had my dress back (pre-dry cleaners), dirty hem and all :(. I am taking it better than most as this was not the first post wedding dilemma and at the end of the day I have my husband so I am blessed. One must stay tuned. FYI-Ladies do not take your dress to a local cleaner; make sure the place of business is reputable. A referral from the bridal salon can go a long way.

Wedding Teaser
I am back from the wedding and honeymoon. I did not reach Savannah until rehearsal day. What is a busy girl to do? I had a wonderful team. I am adjusting back to life, corporate America and moving. Our wedding day went smoothly as we had an awesome DOC Bonnie Kaar, of First City Events. The ceremony was beautiful and full of tradition as well and the reception was held in a private room in one of Savannah's hottest restaurants-nicely decorated and gorgeous. There were raves all day long; I felt some guests had mistaken it for a bridal show LOL, but glad they loved it.

Of course, we had a shrimp and grits station before the first course and plated meal (a classic southern recipe served in martini glasses). Our guests were initially reluctant but loved it.
Ceremony flowers serving as double duty-getting my money's worth! If you look past the flowers, there is a view of the Savannah River.
